Selected areas of shoreline around Ashford Lake will be chemically treated with AquaPro (glyphosate) herbicide for control of invasive common reed (Phragmites australis) growth. Access to the treated areas will be restricted on the day of treatment; no uses of the lake water will be restricted (swimming, boating, fishing, irrigation). Prior to treatment, the treated areas will be posted with signs showing applicable water use restrictions in accordance with DEEP requirements. This chemical treatment at Ashford Lake is being performed, pursuant to a permit from CT DEEP. SOLitude Lake Management of Shrewsbury, MA is the CT licensed company performing the chemical treatment and consultant to the Ashford Lake Property Owners Association.
Treatment will occur in late summer, and the specific date will be posted on this website and on bulletin boards when known.
